Die Trying
is the second novel in the Jack Reacher crime thriller series written
by Lee Child. Jack Reacher, a
former army military policeman,
is walking along in downtown Chicago around lunchtime on a Monday.
Right when he’s passing a dry cleaning establishment, a woman still
recovering from a recent knee injury, using a cane, with a handful of
freshly cleaned laundry stumbles out the door, Jack catches her and
her laundry. All of a sudden, two men come up and abduct both of them
at gunpoint and forces them into a car where a third man is waiting
ready to go. The FBI
starts searching for the woman as soon as it is discovered that she
is missing. Who is this
woman and why do they want her?
There
is plenty of action in this book, especially towards the end. It
takes a while before the reader sees much action by Jack even though
he’s the main character of the book. It is still an enjoyable
story.
