Justice for
Jessica is the ninth novel by
Alretha Thomas, the first in the Detective Rachel Storme series.
This book is about Jessica James who was a very attractive woman
married to Grant James, a wealthy businessman. Grant had to go to
London for business, so Jessica’s best friend, Stacey Sullivan,
stays with her the night he leaves. The following morning Stacey
discovers Jessica’s body with her throat cut and notifies the
police. Detective Rachel Storme, a seasoned detective on the force,
was brought back from an extended leave, just when she was about to
put in for retirement, to work on this case. There are several
suspects for the case with Grant and Stacey’s husband, Mat
Sullivan, being at the top of the list.
This
book was written in the present tense first person narrative by both
Stacey and Rachel which works good for this book. The author switches
between the two by alternating chapters for each. She has a good
size suspect list and many turns and plots in the investigation with
a surprising end.
